Review

Story
snehituda Sai (Nani) is an orphan who has a strange style of living. He stays in unattended houses and leaves when the landlords return. In the process, he comes across a girl Savitri (Madhavi Latha). She takes him for a ride and does mysterious things. Later on he realises that Savitri is a runaway girl from a strict family that disowned her. The rest of the story is all about how Sai enters Savitri's home and make Savitri a part of their household.

Artists Performance

magadheera Nani: Nani proves himself to be an extremely gifted actor from film to film. He is excellent in the role and brings life to scenes that are inane with his histrionics. He seems to have imitated the body language, dialogues and expressions of Venkatesh in the second half of the movie where he tries to play the role of Good Samaritan. On the flip side, there seem to be too much of carelessness (vetakaram) in the way he speaks with the other characters (especially elder and pivotal character like that of Nassar). I don't know if it is the instruction from director or his own improvisation.

Others: Madhavi Latha suited the role well. Nassar did the role of head of household and he is good. Brahmanandam is partly entertaining. MS Narayana did another drunkard role. Kinnera is adequate. Apoorva had an interesting role.

Technical departments

snehitudaStory - screenplay - directon: The concept hero staying in unattended homes is inspired by a 2004 Korean film Bin-Jin (3-Iron in English). This idea was earlier adapted for Charmme's character in 16 days movie which in turn is a remake of ‘Lucky Number Slevin'. The entire set-up for the second half is inspired by Athadu movie. This movie has a flimsy premise in the first half and it was handled rather poorly. And the director concentrated Venky's type family drama in the second half. The Nassar-Apoorva thread with sirimalle puvva track is entertaining. Debutant director could able to do a few episodes well. But he couldn't knit the screenplay well. And takes the story in a beaten path in the second half.

magadheeraOther departments: Songs scored by Shiva Shakar are good. Cinematography by Vasu is neat. Dialogues by Bhasha Sree are average. The producer has spent a good amount of time and effort in postproduction. Production values are adequate.

snehitudaAnalysis: First half of the movie is little disappointing. The second half holds good commercial angle as it is dealt with the family backdrop. The plus point of the movie is Nani who carried the movie on his shoulders. The negative point is poor screenplay. On a whole, Snehituda is has a promising plot, but is marred by bad and uninteresting narration.

What’s it about!
Sai (Nani) is an orphan but happy go lucky person. He lives in different houses secretly when the owners go out. One day he meets a girl Savitri (Madhavi Lata), a runaway girl. Soon they develop a bond. The rest of the movie is about why Savtiri runs away from her home and how Sai helps her and wins her heart in the process.

Analysis

Director Satyam Bellamkonda has chosen (or copied) this simple story thread from Korean movie – 3 Iron (incidentally this same concept was used in Charmee’s 16 Days too). But the director has developed into a good friendship saga with neat narration. There is nothing novel in the movie but at the same time you don’t feel boredom. Director has tried to make the film in entertaining way despite not a sound script as basis. Nassar’s flashback lovestory with Apoorva is rather interesting. But again, the film doesn’t offer anything new. That is the big drawback. Music is the best part of the movie. All the songs by Shiv Shankar (of Priyamana Neeku) are good.

First half is okay but second half loses steam. On the whole it is okay.

Performances

Nani completely carries the film on his shoulders. He has proved himself as actor in Asta Chemma and Ride and this film strengthens his position. But he needs a little sophistication in his looks if he wants sustain in the field. Madhavi Latha is okay. She too has acting skills but needs better grooming. Naseer’s performance as a strict is rather impressive. Comedy by Brahmanandam is decent.

Among the technicians, it is music director Shiv Shankar scores the best. The title track is the best. Director Satyam Bellamkonda has good narrative skills but he should have taken care more in the comedy department.

Bottom-line

Snehituda is just an average film with some good episodes here and there. On the whole the movie is okay.

It’s the movie that has hit the screen with the hero and heroine those have success record with their first films Asta Chemma and Nachchavule respectively. Obviously that aura has pulled the audiences to theaters to some extent. Let us see how it entertained the audiences.

Story:
Sai (Nani) is an orphan who lives in different houses secretly when the owners go away on tour!! He grows up that way (and indeed there is a clash with an episode that he says himself that he has grown up in an Orphanage).

He happens to meet Savitri (Madhavi Latha) in one of his trysts in a bungalow. She falls in a trouble and hence seeks help from Sai.

What’s the problem? How Sai solves that for her? And how Sai becomes a key in her life has to be watched on screen.

Performances:
Nani:

He has shouldered the movie with his ease in action and perfection in dialogue delivery. But there is suggestion for him. He has to work on his body and go for grooming. He is looking very mundane which should be corrected for better mileage on silver screen.

Madhavi Latha:
She is active with fire in eyes. She suits better for arrogant roles and also proved that she can carry pathos also well.

Others are ok in their shoes. Nazzer’s character entertained with his teenage love episode. Tanikella Bharani is ok in his guest appearances. The young villain appeared in this flick did well and his performance is up to the requirement although there is nothing new in histrionics.

Technical Departments:
Music is average and the song ‘Inthaki Nuvvevaru…’ is catchy. Even the pathos version also deserves a mention. Production values are poor and the cinematography is also weak.

Highlights:
Introduction scene with partly color and fully black and white is good
Pawan Kalyan and Charmy elements add mass entertainment value
Nazzer’s flash back episode with Apoorva is entertaining

Disappointments:
Obsolete treatment

Analysis:
It is a reasonable attempt with formula line, but not a very wise one. It’s not a blunder and at the same time may not do wonder at box office. In single line to say, it’s not bad.

The best part in this movie is that there is no elastic narration. Everything has fallen in right pace. The take off is interesting but the interval break leaves no enthusiasm. But second half generates some interest with Nazzer’s flash back episode. Nani’s performance is the best part in the film without which this film wouldn’t be a film that makes people watch till its end.

The humor elements can be far better for the subjects of this sort.

On a whole, it’s just an average show that deserves pass mark.

Bottom Line: Watch it if you have some time to kill

Naani and Madhavi Latha Snehituda obviously is about friendship. The film starts on an interesting note introducing Naani, his background. This goes on for quite some time and you are under the impression that this film revolves around his naughty behaviour, his adventures with Madhavi Latha. But even before the first half of the film ends, the story meanders and starts focusing on the heroine. An orphan Naani lives in others' apartments and leads a comfortable life. Don't ask how, he just finds his way into others' homes - without their knowledge at the right time.
On one occasion he finds Madhavi Latha too who has run away from home having a flashback to narrate. There is now a baddie from whom Madhavi is wanting to escape from, she even finds herself being sold to a brothel house. Then suddenly Naani helps her, lands at her home and works at creating peace between father (Nasser) and daughter (Madhavi Latha). Wait there is a silly sub-plot too. Nasser has a love interest Apoorva and Naani makes an entry calling himself her son. What happens thereafter is downright ridiculous and predictable.
There is no connection from between the first half of the film and the next. So much history on Naani goes waste. Nasser is shown to be a serious person, addressed as Tiger in the house but he has a past that doesn't gel with the story, leaving his character with no weight. Imagine a daughter having respect for her father and going through a bad marriage just because she doesn't want to hurt him, and on other occasion, she telling Naani about her father's past and allowing him to ridicule Nasser even if it means to bring the father and daughter together.
Brahmanandam makes an effort to be funny but that doesn't work. The director lacks clarity, in showing the relationship the lead pair shares, be it love or friendship. Till you see a duet, you don't realize that the couple is in love. Due to many close-up shots in Nacchavule one didn't notice Madhavi's height but here you can make out clearly that she is short. There is one dialogue that is aimed at her height when Naani says, that people choose America, London but none wish to pick on Sri Lanka.
NaaniBoth the actors did their job convincingly but it is the script that played spoilsport. Faulty screenplay fails to enthuse the viewers, dialogues are routine and feather-weight. You get a feeling that a familiar actress has dubbed for Madhavi Latha. The actress should be allowed to use her voice for getting that distinct feel.
Snehituda is not a great film, it just boasts of one number, some casual, good performances by the hero, heroine which is marred by confused plot, inept direction. You lose nothing by not watching the film.
